In 2020 the award-winning choreographer Gary Clarke with his own dance company used the 1903 film Alice in Wonderland to create a dramatic and hyper-theatrical backdrop for his online world premiere new dance production. Gary chose Nigel Clarke’s colourful score Dial `H’ for Hitchcock for his musical inspiration performed by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band under the direction of David Thornton. Gary’s production But Living was part of – Locked Down. Locked In. But Living – sponsored by Arts Council England. They featured the Studio Wayne McGregorNorthern Ballet, and the Gary Clarke Company, who united in a world-premiere triple bill of contemporary dance and ballet at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield. The online premiere of these performances ran from Monday 28th September to Sunday 18th October 2020. What was remarkable and challenging about this triple bill is that all the work produced was rehearsed, performed and filmed under strict lockdown conditions. – Dial `H’ for Hitchcock is available on the Naxos label – 8.574097)           – Dial `H’ for Hitchcock is available on the Naxos label – 8.574097)
