Autumn 2026 release of BRUEG[H]EL’S BRUSH on the Metier Records label
Nigel’s BRUEG[H]EL’S BRUSH will see an autumn 2026 release on the Metier Records label. BRUEG[H]EL’S BRUSH 25 Miniatures for Solo Violin and Solo Viola inspired by 25 paintings by the Bruegel family (and followers) exhibited in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (RMFAB). This exciting collaboration between composer Nigel Clarke, acclaimed violinist/violist Peter Sheppard Skærved, and the RMFAB aims to help the museum’s visitors and international online audiences develop a deeper understanding of the Bruegel dynasty’s art with the aid of music. BRUEG[H]EL’S BRUSH totals 80 minutes of music that was recorded over the summer by Peter on a Girolamo Amati violin dated 1629, a time when Pieter the Bruegel the Elder’s surviving son, Pieter the Younger, and grandson, Jan Brueghel the Younger, were carrying on the family legacy.
