The Royal Northern College of Music Wind Orchestra under the baton of Mark Heron has just recorded `Fields of Remembrance´ on the Polyphonic label. Other composers featured on the disc are Martin Ellerby, Kit Turnbull, Bruce Fraser, Rob Wiffen and Peter Meechan. Read More
Cambridge Symphonic Winds conducted by Richard Hull will be performing Nigel’s symphonic wind orchestra epic`Gagarin’ on 7 November 2009 at 7.30pm in St Giles Church, Cambridge. Nigel will be at the concert to introduce his piece. This will be the second work that they have performed of Nigel’s with `Samurai’ being the first.Read More
2009 saw Nigel write his first work for brass band since 1999 for Luc Vertommen and Brass Band Buizingen based near Brussels, Belgium. The commission is called `Swift Severn’s Flood´ and was premiered at the 16th World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Netherlands on 12th July 2009.Read More
Nigel has also been commissioned to write a new work in 2009 for John Hutchins and Eynsford Concert Band based around a bronze sculpture by Sarah Cunnington entitled `Hope’ found in West Malling, Kent. His new composition is entitled `What Hope Saw’ (Heritage Suite). To go with this work is a specially written poem by Martin Westlake also entitled `What Hope Saw’.Read More
Nigel’s new clarinet quintet `Equiano’ is to be released on Naxos later this year on a disc entitled British Clarinet Quintets. The work is dedicated to Linda Merrick (Clarinet) and the Navarra Quartet. The premiere was given earlier this year by Linda Merrick and the Kreutzer Quartet. Other composers features are Martin Ellerby, Kit Turnbull and Edwin Roxburgh.Read More
